The beautiful city of Savannah is gearing up for a thrilling weekend as the Beer City Cup makes its exciting return on March 1-2, 2025. This is the third annual edition of the largest adult soccer tournament series in the United States, and anticipation is in the air!
The event will be hosted at the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex, located at 7221 Sallie Mood Dr. This venue is set to buzz with excitement, as last year’s tournament was a complete sell-out! This year promises to be even better with a lineup of 110 teams ready to battle it out on the field.
These 110 teams hail from various states including Colorado, New Jersey, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Utah, Tennessee, Alabama, North and South Carolina, and, of course, Georgia. Players won’t just be coming from nearby; they’ll be traveling from 35 states and 5 countries to compete, making it a truly diverse and lively event!
The age range of competitors is broad, spanning from 18 to 70 years old. It’s great to see players of all ages coming together for some friendly competition. The tournament format consists of round-robin play on Saturday, which leads into the thrilling knockout rounds on Sunday. Each game features two 25-minute halves using the exciting 8v8 format. This setup increases the chances for scoring and keeps the energy high throughout the matches!
The stakes are high as teams compete for a total of $40,000 in cash prizes! The finals on Sunday afternoon will be particularly electrifying, with the semifinals and finals scheduled from 12 PM to 6 PM. The Men’s Elite Division alone has cash prizes ranging from $12,000 to $15,000. Additionally, the tournament features three Premier Divisions (Women’s, Men’s, and Coed) each vying for a $5,000 cash prize. The Over 30 Division is the largest, boasting 16 teams, while the oldest competitors can be found in the Over 65 Division!
Among the anticipated participants, two teams have made their mark by entering the prestigious “One Million Dollar Prize” tournament. The Panama Legends will be competing in the Over 50 Division, representing Panama City, Panama, and La Finta from Guayaquil, Ecuador, will take part in the Over 30 Division. The Women’s Premier Division will showcase six teams hailing from as far as Washington D.C. and Mexico.
What makes this tournament special is not just the soccer but the sense of community it fosters. Attendance is free for spectators, making it a delightful family-friendly event where everyone can revel in the festive atmosphere. Guests can enjoy onsite food and beer as they cheer on their favorite teams. It’s going to feel like a big soccer festival!
With so much local talent participating, multiple teams from Savannah will compete, making the home crowd even more enthusiastic. The overwhelming interest in the tournament has been a joy to witness, and it echoes Savannah’s pride in hosting the Beer City Cup for the third consecutive year.
