Don’t miss this vibrant celebration in the heart of Savannah!

Everything You Need to Know About the 201st St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah

Get ready, Savannah! March 17, 2025, is just around the corner, and you know what that means—the 201st Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade is about to take over the streets! This year, the festivities kick off bright and early at 10:15 a.m., right at the intersection of Abercorn and Gwinnett streets.

Find Your Way with a Parade Route Map

Local officials have put together a super helpful map showing the parade route, so you won’t get lost in the celebration. Make sure to grab one, or you can easily find it online! The parade will wind its way through various squares, so you might want to pick out your favorite spot for the best view.

Getting Your Spot: The “Land Rush”

Every year, Savannah has what people lovingly call the “Land Rush” for square set-up along the parade route. This time-honored tradition has been in place for several years now, and it’s an exciting part of the experience. Squares that you can set up in include Calhoun, Oglethorpe, LaFayette, Johnson, Wright, Madison, Chippewa, and Taylor Squares.

But don’t forget! The official setup opens at 6 a.m. on parade day, so plan to arrive early to secure your chosen spot. Everyone is encouraged to keep the squares looking fabulous by bringing their own trash bags to keep any waste tidy—let’s keep Savannah clean!

Rules to Remember

As you prepare for a fun-filled day, please be mindful of the city’s guidelines. Styrofoam coolers, cups, and glass are a no-go during the parade, so make sure you plan accordingly. While the atmosphere is festive, the city won’t permit any entertainment or food vendors in public rights-of-way this year, which means sticking to just the parade. No wristbands will be sold due to the absence of outdoor entertainment and food/alcohol sales.

Plan Your Arrival: Road Closures and Parking Tips

If you’re driving to the parade, be aware that several roads will close for safety. The roads at the staging area will close at 6 a.m. on the parade day, with parallel roads following suit at 8 a.m. and Bay Street closing at 9 a.m.. If you’re parked in the orange-shaded staging area, vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense—yikes!

Limited parking is available in some nearby parking garages, and St. Patrick’s Day Parking Permits were up for purchase from February 25 to March 12. If you missed out, don’t worry! You can hop on the shuttle or take the Savannah Belles Ferry as alternative transportation options.

Mark Your Calendars for Additional Events

For those looking to celebrate earlier, don’t miss the Sgt. Jasper Green Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on March 16, originally scheduled to take place at the Knights of Columbus, due to unexpected weather conditions. And for the early risers, the traditional St. Patrick’s Day Mass will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist at 8 a.m. on parade day.

Stay Updated with Live Streams

If you can’t make it in person, don’t fret! Many of the events surrounding St. Patrick’s Day will be streamed live, so you can still get in on the fun from the comfort of your own home.

So, dust off your green attire and prepare for a day filled with magic, mischief, and celebration! Savannah is gearing up for an unforgettable St. Patrick’s Day, and you won’t want to miss out on the spirit of this vibrant city.
